Carolyn Neighoff, Painting a Brighter Future
Forty years ago, a compassionate vision took root in a church soup kitchen, sparked by the unwavering dedication of Carolyn Neighoff. That vision has blossomed into the Bread of Life, a statewide organization that now extends a lifeline to hundreds through daily meals, provides hundreds of stable housing units, and operates multiple shelters.
What began as a heartfelt response to immediate needs has become a powerful force for change across Maine, all thanks to Carolyn's enduring commitment. Even after four decades, Carolyn's hands are still at work, not just in guiding the organization, but often found painting, adding beauty and warmth to the spaces that embody her life's work – a beautiful metaphor for her ongoing dedication to painting a brighter future for so many.

Kindness and Love": Our Volunteers Speak
At Bread of Life, our mission is driven by compassion, and we are so grateful for the dedication of our incredible volunteers. We often hear how special the atmosphere is, and we love hearing it directly from those who give their time.
As volunteer Ben beautifully put it, Bread of Life is "full of kindness and love." This sentiment truly encapsulates the heart of what we strive to create every day – a welcoming, supportive, and compassionate environment for everyone who walks through our doors, both those we serve and those who serve alongside us.

Music Fills the Air at Our Empty Bowls to Fight Hunger Fundraiser
We had such a wonderful time at our recent Empty Bowls to Fight Hunger event! The atmosphere was made even more special with music playing throughout the evening. It was fantastic to see everyone enjoying themselves, connecting with one another, and celebrating the incredible impact our soup kitchen makes in our homeless and low income community, all to the rhythm of some great tunes!
Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make it such a memorable occasion!
