Two Shelters, One Mission

Bread of Life Ministries has two shelters serving the Capital region. Our family and individual shelter is a 40 bed facility, while our Veterans Shelter has bed space for 14 men. Both of the shelters are staffed at all hours, providing a safe and structured environment for the residents.

At Bread of Life we are not just a shelter from the elements, but a home where people feel safe and welcomed upon arrival. They receive a brand new bed-in-a-bag and a new pillow that they will take with them when they leave. Bread of Life Ministries Shelter provides a structured program where people work with an onsite case manager throughout the week toward goals such as permanent housing, education and employment, all while addressing the underlying reasons for their homelessness. Case Managers work with people to become self-sufficient by connecting them with resources and support networks that provide new opportunities for success.

Tools for Lasting Success

Bread of Life Ministries provides free case management services to all clients who enter the shelter programs. Our goal is to end homelessness one person and one family at a time through case management services and our shelter-based Structures Program.

Case management staff work with clients to develop specific goals around obtaining housing, employment and other resources to help them become self-sufficient. Connecting effectively with government and non-profit resources and various other support systems results in new opportunities for success.

Case Managers also work with clients to address the root causes of their homelessness, such as addiction or disability, in an effort to help the client end their struggle with homelessness.
