The Soup Kitchen: Where It All Began

The soup kitchen opened its doors in September of 1984 and continues to serve from the same location today! We would not be where we are today without our amazing volunteers who selflessly choose to serve those in need.

The Bread of Life Soup Kitchen is a Good Shepherd Food Bank partner program – which provides food through an incredible discount as well as through Cony Hannaford, Shaw’s, Pepperidge Farms, and Olive Garden. Our food truck also picks up food donations across the city from generous donors including CoreMark, Nouria, Performance Food Group among many other generous donors.

A staff cook and our wonderful volunteers serve meals ‘restaurant style’ to patrons coming in to the soup kitchen. Hot coffee is always on!

The Bread of Life food truck delivers to our soup kitchen and shelters ensuring healthy meals for more than 120 people daily!
